Belated Father's Day

 The beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accept that, Fathers have a sacred responsibility within the family. One of the Church's best-known statements on this is found in "The Family: A Proclamation to the World."

The doctrine teaches that a father should:

Preside in love and righteousness over the family—not through domination or control, but by serving with humility, love, and Christlike leadership.

Provide the necessities of life, including food, clothing, shelter, education, and opportunities for spiritual growth.

Protect the family physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Teach the gospel by both example and instruction, helping children develop faith in God and good moral character.

Love and honor his wife as an equal partner. The Church teaches that husband and wife are equal before God and should make decisions together with mutual respect and unity.

Be faithful to his marriage covenants and set a righteous example through honesty, integrity, kindness, and service.

The LDS Church also teaches that while fathers have specific responsibilities, mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children, and both parents are obligated to help one another as equal partners. 

Responsibilities may also be adapted according to individual family circumstances, such as illness, unemployment, or other challenges.

The ideal of LDS fatherhood is modeled after the example of Heavenly Father—to lead with love, patience, mercy, and selfless service rather than authority alone.

A verse often cited in this context is Doctrine and Covenants 121:41–42, which teaches that influence and leadership should be exercised "only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned."

In summary, the LDS doctrine views a father as a loving leader, provider, protector, teacher, and equal partner, whose authority is to be exercised through service, compassion, and devotion to God and family.

     The Holy Bible teaches that 
giving should be voluntary, cheerful, and generous, reflecting God's own liberality, not done reluctantly or to be seen.
     Key principles include giving as you decide in your heart (not under compulsion), understanding giving, brings blessings (Luke 6:38, 2 Cor 9:6), helping the needy (Acts 20:35), and giving in secret to honor God (Matthew 6:4). While tithing (10%) is mentioned, the New Testament emphasizes spirit-led, proportionate giving, which can vary greatly but should be consistent and help the poor. 
The Bible encourages us to be generous with others as we are able and willing within our possessions and hearts. "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7). As we are called to love one another, we should help others in need as we are able to assist them, whether by physical offerings or spiritual prayer requests. It is wise to remember, as Jesus taught that it is "more blessed to give than receive."

 The Edo State Chapter of the Girl Guides  (Company) Association of Nigeria, celebration of world thinking day at Benin city today 1.03.2025 

The Edo State Chapter Commissioner and her executive team light their candles for others to see today at the Edo State capital in style. 

The celebration started with a short prayer, and short introduction of the G.G excos, and the guiding light candle was lit up and one by one other candles light 🕯️ were put on in an incredible patch by patch with expressions of love and support for others differences in value, culture and time.

The commissioner explained why the girl child must be encouraged and supported growing up in life, as they represent the future of the nation. 

The candle she said "was symbol of Love, Care, Listen, and Encouragement" and must be shining to eliminate others darkness in all works of Live.

It herald singing jamboree dancing eating and drinking, hugs and thank you all through the hall. 

Parents of the guides and brownies, in attendance were overwhelmed by the show of love and care by the senior platoon leaders in attendance. 

The atmosphere was enlighten great with thanks and appreciation in the air for one another even as it was the very first day heralding the new month of March 2025.

I was invited to this ceremony in one of Lagos's most sought after environment of Victoria Island.

The sneaking traffic to the event hall was so sickening, I wanted to turn back, but unfortunately the lane was one way round towards the exit.

I persevere and soak in the air conditioning car already labouring from the heat from other vehicles on the single file. Eventually, we arrived. Thanks ever so much to those patrol men and women by the British consulate gate actively monitoring situation.

Walking into the event hall set by the river marina, my hat taken off my head in annoyance, the bouncers required for entry card.

A look at the poor guy and response "CSP....Lagos State P.Command" shunnn sir, at ease boy' as smile and walk ahead along the red carpet alley the voice vibration from the big sound speakers captured my attention. 

Boom! It was a beautiful youthful soulful voice of a toddler in rendition, suddenly followed by a chorus of an incredible remarkable mix harmony combination of angelic feminine trio! 

I curiously look up the stage, bang! There they were, the young little girl in trim plastic medical glasses in back up, by her elder sister and mum! 

The video 📸 teleprompter showed their brand name in the background. I was woowed. 

So gorgeous in blue dress was mum, and the other pretty princess in chorus to this beautiful songbird angelic fairy singing with 🎙️ in hand with clever epic dancing steps. 

 Everyone's attention was glued to the youngest of three trio girl siblings and their manager career momma! 😂😂 Their voice was such a brilliant rendition, you will imagine you're in a studio. The silence from the guests and the hosts was unbelievably generous glued to the group in umpteen admirable smiles and clapping cheers.

I was the first guest on the podium 🥇 to gift the youngest of the girls cash in an envelope 📨 and in admiration other guests joined in appreciation 😁 then the Naira rain began to drop.

After the short song and poem, I walk up to the mum and asked' how best can you describe your story?

Lifting Hands Up in Boki Kingdom

In modern day Nigeria, financial ocean struggles are difficult and really tough to swim through. You feel stressed out, you lose sleep, and sometimes you truly can’t see the path forward. In those moments, you need real help, real guidance and real peace. 

Many parents and including school teachers as parents themselves were struggling. Sending children to school was a herculean task, some even dropped out. I personally as a parent of six kids, was constantly asking God to help us. 

I, asked Him to help us see opportunities, to give us energy to work, till the farmland, have good harvest, to give us ideas, and even to open our minds to areas where, we needed to change, and God was faithful to us. According to one of the community elders.

"God sent Farmer Osim Okim, a cocoa planter, merchant in the community of Boki kingdom to support many families breadwinners through a micro scholarship initiative."

Our first new year lens focused on energetic young social Entrepreneur, Mr. Osim Okim, who has joined the global Changemakers making it matter in the lives of the needy in the new year.

Okim who began his new year celebrations with the offer of  free Joint Admissions Matriculations Board, JAMB, forms for indigent students of Ikom and Boki local government areas of Cross River,  Nigeria, is a young man from Ikom with a thriving business in cocoa farming and merchandise. 

This good gesture is already set in motion to begin with beneficiaries from Boki 2 Constituency through Boki 1, to Ikom, where it would culminate into Thanksgiving to God.

The young Social Entrepreneur said he was motivated to ensure the free registration of the deserving students  for the JAMB because he is poised at supporting endeavours that boost education in all its ramifications.

By engaging in incredibly good wellness health, you can improve your overall health status. That could include reducing the risk of certain diseases, improving your mental state, or reducing stress levels. All of these things can help you live a healthier and longer life.

Physical wellness encompasses a variety of healthy behaviors including adequate exercise, proper nutrition and abstaining from harmful habits such as drug use and alcohol abuse.
It means learning about and identifying symptoms of disease, getting regular medical checkups, and protecting yourself from injuries and harm.

Christmas Lesson

 Christmas Events that focused on Our Saviour Jesus Christ.

It was a Jesus Christ gospel centric celebration 🎉 in reminiscing the feeding of the thousands according to the biblical story. Like our style of lifting hands up. A simple unusual charity based organisation in Tororo Uganda celebrated Christmas with children, their parents, and elderly in Tororo Uganda in unprecedented styles.

Anthony Othieno and family, supported by Karen Barrett and Sharon Hills, in a "Help Us Feed More Children" and get them into school programs, that has been in existence in a long while in Tororo Town. 

The group believes that a good meal can attract children to the classroom, get education, and become useful to their society. Karen and Sharon in the USA including a few highly spirited friends make consistent donations to encourage poor children in parts of Tororo Uganda, get education, clothing, and learn in a conducive environment.

At Christmas 2024, these families, residents of a small community of Tororo chose to celebrate their Christmas in style, beginning with eating and drinking, away from the usual prayer style of old, as Anthony extended the hands of goodwill fellowship incredibly beyond the wildest imaginations of the lowest cast of the oldies in the community.

Tororo District is located in Eastern Uganda. It borders the Republic of Kenya to the East, Bugiri District to the West, Butaleja to the North and Busia.

The Adhola people, also known as Jopadhola, are a Nilotic ethnic group of Luo peoples that live in Tororo District of Eastern Uganda and comprise about eight percent of the country's total population. 

They speak Dhopadhola, (a Luo language), which belongs to the Western Nilotic branch of the Nilotic language family. The predominantly agrarian community, of farmers and food merchants, whose income per capita is grossly inadequate to keep families resources-fully sustainable, most widely harvested crop in Tororo by area was Coffee with 8.39k ha harvested with a total production value of Intl $5.57M.

Among children in Eastern, Uganda in 2011, 8% were severely stunted, 2% were severely underweight, and 1% were severely wasted. Anthony and the team constantly ensure the children are well fed, and stay strong at school

As of 2013, there were 12.82M people living below $1.90/day (2011 PPP) and 22.86M people living below $3.10/day (2011 PPP) in Uganda.

In 2002, the national census put the population of the town of Tororo at 34,810. In 2010, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) estimated the population at 42,500. In 2011, UBOS estimated the mid-year population at 43,700. The 2014 national population census put the population at 41,906, population of this municipality grew at an average annual rate of 2.5 percent, between 2015 and 2020.

Challenge

The problem the project is addressing is food insecurity, hunger, poverty and education. The main economic activity of the people in this area is farming, which is growing crops such as coffee, maize,rice,soya beans ground nuts, don't return adequate yield sufficient to stabilise the family farming household income.

The people are still using a hand hoe which is labour intensive and it makes them produce very little food. In addition to that, they grow low quality seeds which also makes them produce poor yields, since they produce little, they are forced to sell part of harvests early to raise income, to support self, children and households chores.

Solution

Providing home feeding services to their siblings at school, and improved agro-produce marketing to the disadvantaged people will enable them to have increased crop production by 80%. 

This will enable them to have enough for consumption and surplus for sale. They will have food security and development. 

A collaboration with lifting hands up is incorporating in the new year 2025.

Long-Term Impact

The project will provide portable plough services and improved seeds for planting for 100 disadvantaged people enabling them to come out of poverty, have food security and attain a significantly remarkable better standard of living and improved health.

Kanvee is a gospel, devotional, and inspirational artiste of Liberian origin.

Kanvee, has proven herself vocally, in performance, concerts, and has perfected her craft to the fullest releasing smash hit records, performing, and releasing music videos to many of her hit songs, e.g “Liberia is on the Rizing, Jehovah Over do, Hallebor God and much more.

As a Gospel artist apart from duo appearance with other rising stars kanvee has produced 16 gospel albums.

In 2011, she was vice president, Concern Artists of Liberia (Advocacy group for all artists in Liberia).

2004 – 2010, National Coordinator – Liberia Association of Gospel Musical Artists (LAGMA)

Kanvee has won the hearts of many through her songs and in doing do she has also won several awards recognitions and applauds for her hard work.

She was nominated at the 2016 KORA Awards for Best Spiritual Music in Africa. She was conferred KORA Awards Goodwill Ambassador to Liberia on the fight against EBOLA.

In 2014 at the Africa Gospel Music Awards (AGMA) Kanvee was given a Special Award for the Promotion of Gospel Music of the year.

Grace Jerry a fellow of the Mandela Washington Fellowship (2015) for Young African Leaders also Founder of Inclusive Friends Association. Making waves beyond borders, despite her physical limitations.

Benue State-born singer, script writer, gospel song missionary (confined is not a word suitable to describe Grace's motility) hugely busy and active wheelchair bionic lady, the wheelchair helped traverse her breakthroughs in the competitively musical industry.

 Nigerian hamstrung-activist,(been incredibly able even in wheelchair makes it really difficult to say she's cripled) human rights advocate, a musician and a beauty pageant queen; Lady Grace, was awarded the Miss Wheelchair Nigeria. A period within which IFA was established, to advocate and promote rights of disable persons, in Nigeria and Africa.

Grace represents the voice of over 30 million Nigerians who are living with various form of physical disabilities. Grace uses the platform to promote Disability Entrepreneurship Education and Motivation to inspire other mobility impaired all over the world.

Grace Jerry, sits a top Executive Directorship of Xperience Grace Foundation a performing group and concerts tour in Nigeria and the globe.

Grace's incredible human right attributes earned her in 2015 Mandela Washington Fellowship, honored by former USA, President Barack Obama.

Grace lends freshness, and human integrity face to advocacy through her unique blend of passion and music, education propergating right and resource needs of persons with disabilities in national development.

Grace has contributed inmensley to ensure inclusive access for persons with disabilities, government responsibilies to the provission of physical infrastructure aid, including community walk paths, also including advocacy to end violence through benefit concerts, the proceeds of which have been providing disablity toilets for schools serving children with disabilities.
